New clean break couplings for quick and safe connection of lines

In the past WALTHER-PRÄZISION already introduced with the BF Series a clean break quick connect coupling which fulfilled high safety requirements and which was developed in particular for the chemical industry.
Now, on the ACHEMA 2006, the company will present with the CN Series a further clean break type where the design engineers focussed on loading areas of the chemical industry.
In this challenging field of application the main emphasis of the requirements are besides the high safety level also low force handling as well as quick operation. These features of the CN Series are achieved with a cam-byonet lock. It allows to connect with little force also at residual pressures.
A quick connection is guaranteed by the simplicity of operation. The operator turns the locking sleeve of coupling by 120° only to lock. The valve opens simultaneously by the rotory motion of the action. Thus one movement of the hand for connection and valve opening is sufficient. That saves time and increases the safety level at the same time because operating errors are excluded during couple process. The required operating force during the couple process is low because the cam system entrances the manual power of the operator. Pivoted locking sleeves prevent a twisting of the hose when connecting and disconnecting.
The long guidance in the housing is an important design feature of the new clean break coupling. It avoids leakages in tilted couplings caused by the own weight of the line system in horizontal mounting position and with full hoses.
With this CN Series it is also possible to connect and disconnect lines filled with aggressive or dangerous to health media because the couplings work squirt-free and the unavoidable lost volumes are reduced to a minimum.
The flow value is an important parameter for the performance of a coupling. In this case the CN Series can convince, too, because the values determined in the test laboratory of WALTHER-PRÄZISION are 30% higher than similar types.The coupling offered in the nominal bores 25, 50, 80 and 100: that are the coupling diameters being mainly used in the loading areas. The nominal pressures are – according to the nominal bore – PN 20 to PN 25.
In case of smaller nominal bores the hand wheel usually belonging to the scope of delivery is not needed due to the low operating force.
The choice of material is such as 1.4571 and 1.4404 or special stainless steels such as Hastelloy or similar. Concerning the sealing material WALTHER-PRÄZISION offers traditionally a broad application spectrum.
